2025 Jr Tryout Information

Winnipeg South Junior Program - 2025 Tryout Camp

The Winnipeg South Junior Baseball program has a long history in the Manitoba Junior Baseball League. Junior baseball in Manitoba is considered "AAA" caliber baseball and features the premier level of competitive play for Manitoba players within a Manitoba league. Since 1976 our program has been a part of Junior baseball in Manitoba, with a couple of short gaps due to insufficient numbers.

This season, Matt Tallman will be returning as head coach. The coaching staff looks forward to continuing to grow and develop our program.

This year's team is open to players born in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. Tryout camp is mandatory for all candidates able to attend. Any candidates unable to attend for a bona fide reason (for example, attending college) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Candidates must be from the Winnipeg South catchment area and/or be otherwise eligible to play for Winnipeg South. Please direct any questions to Matt Tallman at mtallman@gmail.com.

Tryout camp for the program will be held over a minimum of 5 sessions in March and April of 2024. Candidates are asked to attend at least one Pitching/Batting session and one Fielding/Running session, although candidates are encouraged to attend as many as possible.

An additional session may be scheduled after the sessions listed above.

At HRSTC, flat running type shoes must be worn. At the Soccer Federation facilities, running shoes or plastic cleats may be worn. Pants or shorts are fine for all sessions. Tryout fees are $50 flat per player, regardless of sessions attended. Please bring cash in an envelope with your name on it, or e-transfer to mtallman@gmail.com.
